About
Who is Mark Moxom and just what is "Dropping the Fat" all about?
DroppingTheFat.com features a free web TV show called, strangely enough, ‘Dropping the Fat’, that is there to help folk who want to drop the fat (or as other’s might put it: ‘to lose weight’) whilst at the same time have a bit of fun.
The show provides loads of handy and practical tips about solving real-life issues and problems faced by every dieter at one time or another.
The show is free and remains unsponsored just so Mark can give his unbiased advice.
Each episode also features a "Burning Question" from a viewer which is answered on the program. The viewer whose question gets answered gains three months free access to Low Carb Monthly Magazine website, where they can view hundreds of articles, FAQ, videos and more.
Another feature of the show is the segment where Mark shares his take on a web resource that is of real use to dieters - particularly the low carb ones. What makes this compelling is that many of these web resources are free or nearly free.
The creator and presenter of the show - ‘Brit’ Mark Moxom - is also the maverick editor of Low Carb Monthly and is on a mission to bring tried and tested diet and health information to the public attention.
He has been entrenched in a natural take on health for the last 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience to back up his work. But while more than happy to tell people about the good stuff, he is just as dedicated to outing the outdated and ineffective methods peddled by so many of the ‘health gurus’.
As you join Mark in this adventure, you’ll discover better ways of promoting good health for yourself and learn about many interesting tips and methods for finding that better you…
Marks Story.
It all started with his mother’s hip operation that went wrong and the doctor was at fault. That was the wake-up call that sent Mark on his path to find out about how to be healthy and not need the service of doctors, if at all possible.
Mark very quickly understood that in all things, prevention was better than cure and that’s what set him on his life’s quest to understand how our bodies really work at every level and that the key to good health was good nutrition and adequate exercise.
By following all that he has uncovered over the last 25-plus years, has meant that Mark has not needed a doctor in all that time.
Mark understood early on that our modern western diet - highly processed, high in carbohydrates, devoid of adequate levels of vitamins and minerals and truly poor in real nutritional value - has been one of the main contributors to the increasing levels of disease and illness we are seeing on a daily basis.
Back in the nineties, Mark went from being fit and active to having a period being desk bound that coincided with being too busy and otherwise occupied to properly modify what he was eating so as to match his more sedentary lifestyle. That meant his weight and girth ballooned to over 120kg, about 250 lbs, and 120 cm or 50 inches around his waist.
The crunch came when one day he could not bend over to tie his shoelaces.
It was then he decided to get back on track and get leaner and fitter.
With the wealth of knowledge he had there was no question about which diet he would choose on his road to fitness - Low Carb was the only way to go - it was the only one that gave consistent results time after time.
With the Atkins model as a base, and tweaked with Mark’s own knowledge about nutrition and his own body’s traits, Mark quickly lost weight - up to a pound a day during some periods.
This he continued to do, slowly reducing the amount of weight loss as he approached his target of a 32" waist. The same as he had had when he was 20 years old.
That target was achieved within 6 months, and in the process he lost 18 inches around the waist and 40kg or 75 lbs of fat.
As Mark has commented: "It was like getting my life back! I could again do so many of the things I had not done for so long, because in truth I had just got too darn fat and unfit and frankly embarrassed about how I looked".
Those around Mark noticed the difference and he passed on his advice to many who also have had success by following his advice.
There were two main reasons that, some years ago, were the cause of his decision to pass his knowledge onto a wider audience. On the first reason, he says…
"I had a wealth of knowledge that was not just theory - it was stuff that really worked in real situations. And as I could see that those around - the people I cared about - were needing the knowledge I could pass on - it seemed only right to do so.
The second reason was more telling… Mark said "Controlled carb diets had been around for decades. Dr Atkins came to the fore starting in the seventies and made lowcarb accessible to more people, with many others following on behind him. What concerned me was that his message and successful method was starting to be attacked by so many unknowing fools - who it was not hard to see were under the influence of those who stood to lose out if the western world adopted the lowcarb approach.
But that in itself was not my real concern. I was more worried about the misinformation creeping in from within by folk who were just out to make a profit.
The huge amount of bad advice being thrown around together with poorly formulated ‘Low Carb’ foods were just too much and I had to do something".
He’s been doing ’something’ ever since.
Now you can get the benefit of Mark’s knowledge easily and quickly as you watch each episode of ‘Dropping the Fat’.
